Márton Kabai – What We Design, Designs Us Back

Lecture

During this lecture, we will attempt to discover what’s wrong with designs that excludes political, social, cultural or philosophical contexts. We will try to engage in a critical, speculative design practice, in which we can deconstruct, demystify and re-contextualize visible or invisible systemic problems. For example corruption, discrimination or gender issues.

We will try to challenge and question the techno-capitalistic, human-centric norms and its harmful agendas by researching, imagining, experimenting with alternative worlds, methods and forms. At the end of the workshop we will try to conclude that designers can affect the world to think critically and dare to ask questions, since nothing is taken for granted.
